Look I understand you're probably reading the headline and thinking that I am clearly out of my mind, but when don't you think that. See when I make these wild statements, I usually back them up with facts and yet people still look at me crazy. Well here I am back with another one so be prepared to grill me once again.
Stephen Curry is arguably the greatest point guard that we have ever seen. Not including Magic Johnson(whom I look to be as a Small Forward), no point guard has been as amazing to watch as Steph. His numbers since 2015 have been spectacular. His unanimous MVP season maybe the most efficient shooting season of all time for some averaging 30 ppg. That season he put up 30.1 points per game (scoring title btw), 5.4 rebounds, 6.7 assist and 2.1 steals per game(leading the league as well here too) while shooting 50 % from the field and 45% from the 3 point line. Steph also made 400 3s that season breaking his own previous record( which no one is even close to) while shooting 95% from the left corner. He was doing this all without playing 4th quarter games because most games weren't even close enough for the starters to even play. This led the Golden State Warriors to a 73-9 record which is also an NBA record. After having this spectacular season, people would still say that he didn't even deserve MVP this season.
After losing in the Finals that year( yeah they blew a 3-1 lead), KD decided to join the Warriors and win himself a Championship. Ever since Kevin joined GSW, people have even diminished Curry's talent even more. Curry took the step back in attempts per game to share the ball with KD so yes his numbers dropped, but only slightly. He still averaged 25 points per game, 4 rebounds, and 6.6 assist. He was still having an amazing season and Golden State went on to win the Finals that year. Curry didn't win Finals MVP but his Final's stats were far from average. He damn near averaged a triple double with 26.8 points per game, 8 rebounds, 9.4 assist and 2.2 steals in that 5 game span. If Kevin didn't play as spectacular as he did, Curry would've been Finals MVP easily.
Last season Golden State repeated as back to back champions with Curry receiving his 3rd championship in 4 years. He averaged 27.5 points per game, 6 rebounds and 6 assist. Coming off of a great season like that, Curry is still not looked at as the best point guard in the NBA. There are people saying that players like Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, and Kyrie Irving are better than him. None of them are doing the numbers that Curry is doing. None of them has had the success that Curry has had. You can't say that these players haven't had help around them because they certainly have. The fact of the matter is, Curry is just an overall better team player and individual player than these other point guards. Honestly, you can make the argument that Curry is the greatest point guard of all time. The sad thing is, most people you ask won't even bother putting him in their top 5, probably not even their top 10. He's the greatest shooter of all time, 2 time MVP, first ever unanimous MVP, NBA Record for most 3 pointers in a season, will finish with the most 3 pointers ever made, top 10 handles ever, he's an underrated defender, he's led the league in steals, and over his past few seasons, he's been shooting 50% from the floor; and with all of this, people don't even consider him the greatest point guard in the league. This is why I consider him the Most Underrated Player of All Time.
